This first artist monograph on Massinissa Selmani gathers more than 130 drawings, photographs, animations and a foreword by the acclaimed writer Mathias Énard. Massinissa Selmani was born in Algiers. He currently lives and works in France. His work tries all kinds of experiments that drawing allows, and is characterized by extreme simplicity – often presenting montages of images and drawings, or short animations in which mingle humor, irony, and sometimes even a sense of revolt. The subjects of his works often rooted in political or social news, and press clippings. In 2015 Massinissa Selmani was selected by Okwui Enwezor for the 56th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, entitled All the World’s Futures, where he received a Special Mention. His work was also exhibited in 2015 at the 13th Biennale de Lyon, curated by Ralph Rugoff. In 2016 he was awarded the Art [ ] Collectors Prize.
